One year ago, I wrote about the joy of strolling along Calea Victoriei during Bucharest’s “Open Streets” program. This year, I found myself back on the same walk, and the feeling was just as special.
Calea Victoriei, freed from its usual stream of cars, once again transformed into a promenade where history, culture, and everyday life meet. Street performers added rhythm, cafés spilled out onto the sidewalks, and the elegant façades reminded me of the city’s unmistakable European charm.

Walking here in 2025 carried a mix of nostalgia and excitement: nostalgia for another year passing while I’ve been away, and excitement at seeing the city continue to embrace this tradition.
Some streets simply stay with you, and Calea Victoriei is one of them, always ready to welcome you back, no matter how much time has passed.
