Putrajaya by Night

Updated: Mar 7

About 30 km out of Kuala Lumpur, the new-born city of Putrajaya stands as the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. Most governmental structures have now been relocated here, transforming the area into a modern hub where contemporary architectural concepts appear at every turn.

Some would say the place feels a bit cold, without its own distinct soul. Locals are rarely seen on its wide streets, with the central shopping mall gallery being one of the few places where daily life gathers any real energy.

However, the city itself is undeniably impressive — a carefully planned blend of green gardens, vast boulevards, striking skyscrapers, government office buildings, and man-made lakes, all shaped by a vision for 21st-century urban living.

It would be interesting to follow how Putrajaya evolves in the coming years. It remains to be seen what plans the authorities will put in place to bring more life, character, and activity into this futuristic administrative city.
