During a short stay in Bucharest- Romania, I had the opportunity to walk along Calea Victoriei. This major thoroughfare, typically bustling with daily traffic, is closed to cars on certain weekends as part of the "Open Streets" program—an urban experiment aimed at expanding recreational spaces.

It was a journey down memory lane, tinged with nostalgia as I strolled along this iconic street, where the past and present intersect in a delightful dance. I left Bucharest many years ago, but walking through Calea Victoriei felt like reviving an old friendship. The absence of honking cars and the presence of lively street performances, charming cafes, and cheerful pedestrians filled the air with a sense of joy and freedom.
The "Open Streets" initiative not only breathes life into this bustling avenue but also offers a rare chance to explore Bucharest's rich history and vibrant culture at a leisurely pace. I couldn't help but feel a warm connection to my roots, as if the city was welcoming me back with open arms. It's a perfect reminder that no matter how far we wander, some places always hold a special place in our hearts.
